Zoom has announced a significant update to its AI assistant, introducing features that allow it to independently handle routine tasks for users. The assistant now includes functions such as scheduling meetings, generating documents based on meeting content, and creating video clips automatically.
New AI Features and Upcoming Additions
Zoom plans to continue enhancing its AI assistant with additional useful features. Later this month, the Zoom Workplace mobile app will receive a built-in voice recorder. This recorder will not only capture face-to-face meetings but also transcribe and briefly summarize them. In May, the company intends to roll out a new “live notes” feature. This addition will allow users to access real-time text summaries during video calls and phone conversations, according to The Verge.
One notable aspect is that both the AI assistant and the newly introduced features will be available to all Zoom Workplace users at no extra charge. Yet, the company has an optional premium service scheduled for release in April. For $12 per month, users will be able to create personal AI avatars designed to send messages to colleagues on their behalf. This feature will be branded as Custom AI Companion.
Personalized Avatars and Standard Templates
In addition to the personalized avatars, Zoom will offer a collection of standard virtual character templates, notes NIX Solutions. Unlike the Custom AI Companion, these standard avatars will be accessible for free to all users. Both the personalized and standard avatars are expected to become available by late March. Users will find these tools integrated into the Tasks tab on the Zoom Workplace platform.
