Anthropic, the developer behind the AI assistant Claude, has introduced a new Research feature for deep research using AI. Alongside this, the company announced integration with Google Workspace applications. Claude will now be able to directly connect to Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs.
Instead of manually searching through numerous emails, calendar invites, or documents, Claude can do this work for the user. The AI can retrieve information for specific timeframes, highlight key actions from email chains, and provide helpful context — in a way comparable to Microsoft Copilot, according to The Verge.
Anthropic’s Research tool is described as a major update to the way AI searches and analyzes information. Unlike a regular AI search, Claude now acts as an AI agent, conducting a series of related queries to deliver more accurate and grounded results. Each answer is accompanied by links to relevant sources.
Beta Access and Enterprise Features
This Research functionality is already in early beta for Max, Team, and Enterprise users in the US, Japan, and Brazil. The integration with Google Workspace is currently in beta as well and is available to all paid users. However, for enterprise accounts, it must be enabled by an administrator. For Pro subscribers ($20/month), the Research feature is expected to become available soon — we’ll keep you updated as more integrations become available.
Enterprise users also benefit from a new ability to catalog their Google Drive contents. Using RAG methods (retrieval-augmented generation), Claude can locate information even in long-forgotten documents. It can automatically search an organization’s document database for the necessary data.
Voice Mode and Future Developments
Anthropic is also preparing to roll out a voice feature called Voice mode. This function will let users speak directly with Claude and is expected to rival a similar feature in ChatGPT. According to Bloomberg, the voice interface will offer three English voice options: Airy, Mellow, and Buttery. References to the feature have already been spotted in the Claude iOS app code, and Anthropic’s head of product, Mike Krieger, confirmed that prototypes are in testing, adds NIX Solutions.
As Anthropic notes, this is just the beginning of a broader update strategy aiming to “reimagine the interaction with Claude.” In the coming weeks, users can expect enhancements to context handling and the model’s analytical abilities — and we’ll keep you updated as these improvements roll out.
Despite these advances, Anthropic reminds users to verify the information Claude provides. Like any AI, it may misinterpret or fabricate details. The company emphasizes that Claude only accesses documents users explicitly authorize and urges users to double-check all sources.
