As part of the annual WWDC event, Apple announced a number of interesting new products, one of which was the Passwords application. This tool expands the capabilities of the iCloud Keychain service and allows you to synchronize credentials across more devices.
The Passwords app will be available on a variety of Apple devices, including the Vision Pro mixed reality headset, Mac computers, iPhones, and iPads. The app will also be available on Windows computers via iCloud for that OS. Apple did not mention whether the Passwords software product will be compatible with the Android mobile OS and the Google Chrome browser.
Key Features and Benefits
Users will be able to store and view passwords from sites and applications, and different Wi-Fi networks in one place and share credentials with trusted people through the Passwords application. One of the main advantages of Apple’s new product may be deeper integration with credentials from the company’s services than other analogues, such as 1Password or Bitwarden. In addition, for many users who are concerned about privacy issues, Apple may be a much more reliable service provider than, for example, LastPass, which has repeatedly encountered incidents related to user data leaks, notes NIXSolutions.
