Dice Insights named 8 programming languages that were most searched for by American employers over the past year. The data is provided by Burning Glass, which aggregates and analyzes millions of job openings in the US labor market.
The most frequently used job descriptions in 2021 were SQL, which is required to create and manage data in databases. The company says that the median salary for specialists with knowledge of SQL is $92,000, and depending on the experience and related skills of the candidate, it can reach $122,000, says Dev.
Second on the list is Java, which has a wide range of applications from Android development to big data analytics. The median salary for Java programmers, according to Burning Glass, is $102,000 per year.
The third, by a small margin, is Python, which is widespread in data science, machine learning and more. Python has the second largest developer community, second only to JavaScript (ranked 4th in demand in the US) and one of the fastest growing, notes NIXSolutions.
