Analyst company App Annie has published a consolidated rating of the popularity of applications for mobile devices. The experts compiled three lists that determined the winners in various categories: by the number of downloads, money spent by users and the largest active audience.
According to the App Annie report, in 2020, the TikTok app climbed three places in the rankings and became the most downloaded in the world, leaving Facebook behind. At the same time, the platform for publishing short videos also came second in the monetization category, behind the popular dating service Tinder and overtaking YouTube. The greatest activity was demonstrated by users of Facebook applications and services, to which yielded even such streaming giant as Netflix.
The top three in terms of downloads also include Facebook and WhatsApp. The breakthrough of the year was the ZOOM video conferencing application, which immediately climbed 219 positions to fourth in the top 10, notes NIX Solutions.
Separately, analysts have calculated the income of soft makers from purchases in applications. The total revenue of stores for iOS and Android increased by 25% compared to last year and amounted to $112 billion. At the same time, games got 71% of the total, and the share of iOS in the cash flow was 65%, despite the greater number of downloads from Android.
