Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced plans to invest up to $65 billion in AI projects by 2025. The investment includes constructing a massive data center and expanding its AI teams.
A Data Center Covering Manhattan’s Scale
Part of the funds will be used to build a data center described by Zuckerberg as “so big it could cover a significant portion of Manhattan.” Meta plans to have about 1 GW of computing power online in 2025 and expects to end the year with over 1.3 million GPUs, he shared.
Aiming for Innovation and Leadership
“This is a massive effort, and in the coming years, it will drive our core products and business, unlock historic innovation, and advance American technology leadership,” Zuckerberg wrote in a statement.
Meta joins other leading tech companies in developing larger data centers to meet the growing demand for computing power needed to create advanced AI models. Bloomberg noted this trend as critical for AI advancements.
Competitors Also Invest Heavily
