NIX Solutions: Gemini AI Expands Across Google Devices

Over the past couple of years, Google has been actively integrating the Gemini AI chatbot into its products: Gmail, Android, Google Drive, and other services. By the end of the year, the chatbot’s presence will expand — it will appear on the Wear OS platform for smartwatches, Android Auto for cars, and wireless headphones. We’ll keep you updated as these integrations begin rolling out.

Expansion Plans Confirmed by Alphabet CEO

During a briefing after the quarterly financial report, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai announced that Gemini will soon appear on new devices. “We’ll update the Google Assistant on mobile devices to Gemini, and later this year we’ll update tablets, cars, and devices that connect to your phone, like headphones and watches,” Pichai stated.

This year’s Google I/O developer conference is scheduled for May 20–21 — perhaps the company will talk in more detail about its plans to expand the presence of Gemini there.

Gemini AI Rollout Across Platforms

Google Gemini is already the default assistant on most Android smartphones, but it’s not yet available on tablets, Wear OS watches, or Google smart speakers and displays, notes NIX Solutions. The company’s plans were confirmed by an analysis of beta versions of some apps. For example, snippets of code were found in the Google app indicating that Gemini will appear on Wear OS as a “wearable” assistant, likely as an update to the existing Google Assistant app. The company will initially update only the app, and then strengthen the integration with the release of Wear OS 6.

A recent release of Google Assistant for Android Automotive showed strings indicating that Google is working hard to bring Gemini to the automotive platform as well. The company is also developing AI models adapted to work in new areas with high growth potential, including robotics, Mr. Pichai added.
